Politicians are masters at making simple issues complex, partly to excuse their salaries and partly to mislead the public into thinking they are neccessary.
Statesmen make complex issues simple. They are open to everyone and listen to the people they represent. Statesmen do not view themselves as a neccessity and thereby become an essential element of social evolution.
